In those first five months of government the right-wing president, Bolsonaro, imposed harsh attacks on Brazilian workers. It is a policy that serves the interests of profit and the capital of employers, landowners and bankers, and therefore more misery and hunger for the working class.
Unemployment has increased and there are more than 60 million people outside the formal labor market.
The Revision of the Previdencia will aggravate this situation, preventing workers from retiring, destroying security rights and increasing misery.
Faced with this scenario of attacks on the Bolsonaro government’s rights, the workers of Brazil will hold a general strike on June 14.
Below this text there is a model of solidarity motion that can be sent to Brazilian embassies in your country. Also videos and acts in solidarity are very important.
Please forward the motions to the email: secretaria@cspconlutas.org.br
Motion in Solidarity with the General Strike in Brazil on June 14
Since in office far-right president Jair Bolsonaro attacked Brazilian workers’ rights. It is a policy on the benefit of Banks, corporations and big landowners which will imply into poverty and hunger for the working class.
As the country moves into recession, Bolsonaro and his vice-president Mourao want to curb the pensions of the poorest, cut public education funds and want to end both labor rights and democratic freedoms. They also encourage both the invasion of Native-Brazilians lands by agribusiness, and the destruction of the environment. They also encourage homophobia, racism and machismo, which have aggravated violence against LGBTs, Blacks and women.
Unemployment has increased and there are more than 60 million people out of the formal job market.
The Pension Reform will exacerbate this situation, preventing workers from retiring, destroying pension rights and increasing poverty.
Considering Bolsonaro administration backlash on labor/people’s/democratic rights the undersigned UNION / ORGANIZATION stands in solidarity with the workers’ struggle in Brazil and expresses its full support for the general strike of June 14, 2019.
